Earlier this week on Monday, 7th June, 2021, calamity struck at night when a young boy, aged just 2 years was involved in an SUV accident in Las Vegas which ended up taking his life. According to Metro Police, the SUV accident in Las Vegas was reported at 7:40 pm and it occurred near Sandhill Road and Washington Avenue at Douglas A. Selby Park and Trailhead in the northeast valley in Las Vegas.
It has been reported that the boy ran into the path of the vehicle as the SUV was departing from the park at the north entry/exit ramp to Henry Drive. The child was pronounced dead when he was taken to the University Medical Center according to the police. The child’s name is pending notification from his family members and his name has yet not been released.
According to the police, excessive speed of the vehicle did not qualify as a factor in the accident. The driver of the SUV, a woman from Las Vegas, aged 19 was not impaired, remained at the scene of the accident, and did not flee. According to the police, the incident currently remains under investigation. More updates are to follow as details of the incident unfold.
This tragic death has been identified as the 59th fatality, contributed by auto accidents in 2021 within Metro’s jurisdiction.
